What is the best fishing line weight?

This is a loaded question! It really depends on what and how you're trying to fish. Lets just say we're only talking about "catching something and having fun" though. What kind of line is the best?

Here's a snippet from our opinion:

"There are tons of options, but when it comes down to casual fishing, 8 lb nylon monofilament is the best. The main tradeoff with lighter or heavier line is visibility (for a fish) versus strength. Experts can catch very large fish with as little as 2 or 4 lb line weight, so 8 lb is certainly enough to catch just about anything. Since strength isn't an issue for the fish, why choose a heavier line?"
