Wizbang Fishing Tech: New Fishing Lure Picker

Here's something awesome for fishermen. Let's say you're looking to try something new, like you want to work on your jig technique for that mid-summer slow and deep bass fishing. If you're wondering where to start, you've got one more tool in your arsenal with OutfitterPro.US's new Fishing Lure Wizard.

OutfitterPro.US says their team of experts has combined a wide range of recommendations into an algorithm which picks lures for you based off of which fish you're targeting, what technique you are using, and even the climate of your state. The wizard also provides a link to Amazon so if you like what you see, you can buy the ones you want.

I looked through the site and ran the wizard a few times and found it easy to use. The recommendations were good most of the time, and each recommendation had a video at the bottom which shows you how to use the exact technique in your own state.

For example, I went to the recommendation for jig fishing in my state and it recommended some swim jig tackle and the video was for swim jigging in Virginia. Really cool. I haven't learned fly fishing yet, so I also looked up fly fishing for bass in California. It gave me a rod/reel combo recommendation, some popper flies, and of course the video on how to use the tackle.

OutfitterPro.US doesn't appear to produce the videos listed in their recommendations, but somehow they have done a good job of finding good videos that mesh with their recommendations. The integration with Amazon is slick. Click once and they add everything to your Amazon cart.

Overall I'm impressed. I think OutfitterPro.US's lure wizard is paving the way for some interesting possibilities. What's next? Devices in our pockets recommending when and where to fish? Well, we've already got that ... I guess I'll have to leave the creativity to the experts.
